The missing plaque project
“It is often said that the victors of history write the history books in their favor”.
With the Missing Plaque Project , Tim Groves and Co. want to prevent this from happening. It consists of a series of posters disseminated in specific locations in the city, thus reminding us of specific events that went forgotten by the municipal commemoration machine. From the Christie Pit Riots, to the Streetcar Strike and the Bathouse Raids, this project maps stories that are unwritten in the official history books but that represent crucial moments that shaped the cultural fabric of the city of Toronto.
Since this project took place, the city of Toronto has created some proper plaques commemorating these events
